Most teams struggle when they are forced to play at a pace they are not accustomed to. |

Crosby was not called for embellishment, he was called for unsportsmanlike conduct for not stopping yelling at the ref after the play.
Also, yes, any coach who wins even "a single" championship is a good coach. Most NHL coaches go throughout their careers without winning one. You may not like his brand of hockey, but it has been generally effective for his entire NHL coaching career.
Edit: The original person to call Crosby a whiner was his teammate Mark Recchi, who did it more for motivational purposes more than anything, stating that it's not how you should approach the game when you're a rookie.
But let's not let facts get in the way of flaming Ken Hitchcock. Jeez, this reads like a James Tanner article. |

Exactly, Hitchcock's system has worked well for years. It's not the boring ass trap so I'm fine with it. |

He better rethink that retirement thing, 'cause whole cows are expensive.

I wouldn't know either. But I've watched enough Hitchcock coached hockey to know it's not old school Jacques Lemaire Devils hockey. |

Had the Penguins won, I'd guess the style of play wouldn't even have come up. |

Snoozfest, but I blame the Penguins. They weren't interested. |

I was flipping between the Pens and the Sixers on my computer. The Pens definitely played to the Blues' tempo, so yeah the game wasn't nearly as exciting as typical Pens hockey. I don't think it was a (frank)ing snooze fest though. |

Not true actually. RW will always comment on the style of play if its against a team that usually plays a defensive style. He'll whip out that Bad-Good/Boring-Fun graph he likes a lot win or lose. |

I would play whatever brand of hockey it takes to shutout one of the best teams in the league who also has the league's leading scorer... |

Aren't the Blues like 4th in possession?
How is this boring hockey when they are playing the right way?
Funny, that they can be lauded one day and then criticized in the next.
If it was a high event game, we would have charts and stats shoved in our faces to prove that this is the way that hockey should be played.
Amazing how opinions change when the game is actually played on the ice and not on paper. |

Top 10 coaches on the NHL's all-time wins list:
•Scotty Bowman, 1,244 wins. ...
•Joel Quenneville, 783 wins. ...
•Al Arbour, 782 wins. ...
•Ken Hitchcock, 733 wins. ...
Yes some would argue Hitchcock was a successful coach. |

Possession and pace are not one in the same...
The Blues were able to force the Penguins to player at a slower pace than they would like and it worked. |
